Modern smartphones are engineered for continuous operation and do not need to be powered down daily to maintain stability or prolong their lifespan. The habit of regularly turning off the device is reported by BGR.
Some users prefer to completely shut down their smartphone at night to avoid distractions from notifications and to save battery life. However, every power-on cycle involves starting the operating system, checking components, and activating background processes, which places additional strain on the device’s hardware.
Experts emphasize that modern smartphones are optimized to function for extended periods without requiring a reboot. In most cases, powering off the device offers no noticeable benefits, and excessively frequent on-and-off cycles could theoretically accelerate wear on certain components.
BGR also warned about the impracticality of this approach, as a completely powered-off smartphone is unavailable for emergency communication, and if needed, the user would have to spend extra time booting up the device.
As an alternative, specialists recommend using “Do Not Disturb” mode, muting the sound, or other built-in notification management tools. This approach helps reduce distractions without fully shutting down the device.
