Starlink has announced the upcoming launch of its Starlink Mobile service in Mongolia, in collaboration with the operator GMobile.
This technology enables standard smartphones to connect directly to satellites without relying on cell towers, delivering basic mobile connectivity in areas where ground-based infrastructure is unavailable.
The service is primarily aimed at residents of remote regions—herders, mining workers, and field specialists. They will gain access to messaging apps and essential applications even in the steppes and hard-to-reach areas where traditional networks are either non-functional or completely absent.
Starlink Mobile is a service that allows ordinary smartphones to communicate directly with satellites. It does not require the installation of external antennas, providing basic connectivity in “dead zones” where there is no terrestrial coverage.
