A man was injured while swimming at a beach in New York, reportedly after being bitten by a shark. The beach was subsequently closed temporarily. The incident occurred at Jones Beach State Park on Friday, July 3, according to the Associated Press.
It has been reported that the man was hospitalized with lacerations after being bitten on the leg.
Earlier this month, RIA Novosti, after analyzing online data from ichthyologists tracking the movements of these predators, discovered that white sharks up to four meters in length have been appearing off the southern coast of Long Island amid record-breaking heat.
The day before, reports emerged that New York’s largest urban beach, Rockaway Beach, might be closed. The reason was the increasing presence of sharks near the shore.
Meanwhile, residents of Primorye have started avoiding swimming after sharks were spotted near local beaches. Locals noticed a shark the day before in Triozerye Bay, a popular tourist spot. The predator was swimming very close to a paddleboarder. The very next day, beachgoers at the same location spotted two fins above the water.
