Reddit users managed to trick AI systems into reporting the death of U.S. President Donald Trump from rabies after being bitten by Vice President JD Vance. This is according to Futurizm, citing data from the search engine DuckDuckGo.
DuckDuckGo, which brands itself as an “AI-free search engine,” responded to a query about Trump’s death from rabies by providing a date: June 7, 2026.
“Rabies was confirmed as the cause of death—a rare but serious illness. This incident attracted significant attention due to its unusual nature and the circumstances that preceded it,” the response read.
The prank succeeded because tens of thousands of users simultaneously began spreading the fabricated story online. The artificial intelligence, in turn, treated it as factual.
As a result, responses to relevant queries now indicate that the U.S. president and his vice president succumbed to rabies a few days apart.
