The actor has returned to training and grown a beard for the role of the god Kratos.
Dave Bautista—who replaced the injured Ryan Hurst in the upcoming Prime Video series God of War, based on the video game franchise—has shared a look at his physical transformation. In a post accompanying a photo of himself, Bautista revealed that he has gained 20 pounds (about nine kilograms), bringing his current weight to 250 pounds (approximately 113 kilograms). Additionally, the actor has grown a beard to better resemble Kratos, who is known for his imposing facial hair.
Earlier in September, Bautista posted a shirtless photo on social media with the caption: “Three weeks into strength training. Two more months to get into the right shape.”
For the 55-year-old actor, this marks a return to a larger physique—one he had previously moved away from by choice. In 2023, he bulked up to 136 kilograms for his role in Knock at the Cabin—achieved, by his own admission, through a diet of pancakes and French fries. He later shed 34 kilograms through a new diet and jiu-jitsu training, noting at the time that while he “sacrificed a lot of muscle,” he felt “more comfortable.”
