The t.me domain has been completely removed from the domain name space—the DNS zone—by the administration of the .me domain registry, according to the Whois domain search service, as reviewed by RIA Novosti.
An agency correspondent also encountered the issue that short t.me links have ceased to open in standard browsers.
According to the Whois service, the domain’s information was last updated on July 13. Its current status indicates that the domain is fully blocked at the registrar and registry level.
Additionally, based on the portal’s data, one of the statuses assigned to the t.me domain is serverHold. Per ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) documentation, this status is set by the domain registry operator and signifies that the domain has been removed from the DNS.
The TelegramInfo channel noted that within the messenger’s own mobile and desktop clients, clicks on links are processed correctly and transitions work without issues. As a temporary alternative for placement on external resources, it is recommended to use telegram.me links.
