Against the backdrop of labor market stagnation in the US and European countries, “career spells” are gaining popularity, supposedly helping to find a job, succeed in an interview, or get a promotion. This became known on July 26.
In the European Union, the labor market has been stagnant for the third consecutive year: the unemployment rate remains at around 6% after nearly a decade of steady decline, reports RIA Novosti.
The services of some “witches” are in high demand. For instance, career fortune-telling using Tarot cards from one seller was ordered over 16,000 times, while another specialist conducted nearly 14,000 “manifestations” for job acquisition. Many such services involve promises to “open the path to career success,” with the number of reviews reaching approximately two thousand.
The cost of such offers varies significantly: some specialists offer protection of the workplace from negative influences for $4.5, others conduct rituals for successful interviews for $16, or offer a “dream job” spell for $60.
The most expensive service, according to the material, is offered in Europe—a personalized energy ritual for enhancing career success costing €1,070 (about 12,000 rubles).
ABB industrial conglomerate head Morten Wierod reported on June 7 that Europe may face rising unemployment without urgent economic deregulation amid the energy crisis. According to him, high gas prices reduce the EU’s competitiveness compared to the US. Wierod noted that European authorities need to accelerate reforms to avoid deepening economic problems.
