Mini-PCs consume less energy and take up less desk space, according to a report by BGR.
Journalists note that mini-PCs—desktop devices smaller than standard stationary units—are becoming increasingly common on the market. The BGR team outlined the advantages these devices offer over conventional personal computers (PCs).
Experts primarily highlighted that such PCs save desk space and consume less power, as they are built using mobile processors. Despite this, mini-PCs can outperform some standard desktop computers. “With the exception of certain resource-intensive applications or video games, a good mini-PC will run most programs just as well as a high-performance desktop PC,” the article states.
BGR also emphasized that these compact devices can be an ideal solution for specialized tasks, such as setting up a home server or using the device as a gaming console. Furthermore, the chassis often allows for the installation of a second storage drive or a RAM upgrade, although the processor is typically soldered to the motherboard.
Previously, sources cited by United Daily News reported that Microsoft had raised licensing fees for Windows-based computers, a move expected to drive up the price of these devices.
