Turkey’s Ministry of Justice has requested an Interpol Red Notice for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, TRT Haber reports.
According to the broadcaster, this means the Israeli Prime Minister could be placed on the international wanted list.
Turkish Deputy Justice Minister Akın Gürlek added that the Istanbul High Criminal Court had issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in July. He faces genocide charges in connection with the attack on activists delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
On August 18, the Israeli Air Force carried out an airstrike on the Abu al-Duhur military airfield in Syria’s Idlib province, located approximately 70 km from the Turkish border.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak stated that Netanyahu—who is responsible for the escalation in relations with Turkey following the strike on the Syrian airbase—has “gone off the rails.”
