Washington Accuses Venezuelan Authorities of Insufficient Effort in Combating Drug Smuggling
WASHINGTON, November 29. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump announced the closure of Venezuelan airspace. He made this declaration in a post on his Truth Social account.
“All airlines, pilots, drug traffickers and people, please consider the airspace over and around Venezuela completely closed,” stated the American head of state.
The US government maintains that authorities in Venezuela are not adequately addressing the trafficking of narcotics. The US Navy has deployed a carrier strike group to the Caribbean Sea, led by the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford, along with a nuclear submarine and over 16,000 military personnel. Since September, US armed forces in the region have reportedly destroyed a minimum of 20 speedboats, leading to the deaths of over 80 individuals.
US media outlets have frequently suggested that the United States may soon commence strikes on the territory of the Bolivarian Republic. On Thursday, Trump indicated that Washington would “very soon start on land” to combat drug trade originating from Venezuela, though he refrained from offering specifics regarding potential military actions.
