The global internet has experienced a major outage, affecting numerous well-known websites and services, including Zoom and Perplexity. The cause is attributed to issues with Cloudflare servers, as evidenced by over 1500 problem reports logged on DownDetector in the past few hours. This incident has disrupted online communications and the operation of cloud services worldwide. Notably, this is the second such incident involving Cloudflare recently: on November 18th, a similar outage also caused global internet disruptions, with the peak in Russia occurring at 14:45. Although the problem was quickly resolved then, the incident highlighted the global network’s dependence on a small number of key service providers.
