OpenAI unveiled fresh personalization options for ChatGPT, enabling users to modify the AI’s response tone and style at will. Now, the chatbot can be assigned one of eight “personas” or users can flexibly mix their attributes, reports The Verge.
By default, modes like “Professional,” “Friendly,” “Candid,” “Quirky,” “Efficient,” “Pedantic,” and “Cynical” are available. Each of these personal traits can be subtly adjusted by regulating the “scale” of its manifestation in replies.
Besides the communication style, users can govern formal text features: the frequency of emojis, headings, and bullet points. To access these settings in the mobile application, one must open the menu in the upper left corner, navigate to their profile, then to “Personalization,” and select “Add Characteristics.”
The update also affected text processing. The chat now features the ability to format and update text, as well as highlight specific segments and request ChatGPT to revise them, which eases collaborative document work.
