The reason for the titled runner’s mysterious disappearance has now become clear. American sprinter Marvin Bracy demonstrated excellent results on the international stage and won medals at world championships. The secret to Marvin’s triumph became clear after the publication of the story of his misdeeds. Surprisingly, the athlete received a very lenient punishment for his openly dismissive attitude towards anti-doping regulations. Strange Career Bracy showed impressive achievements in sprinting from a young age. Even as a schoolboy, the American could run 100 meters in 10.05 seconds. Marvin began his professional track and field career in 2014. The only major success in the following three years was a silver medal at the World Indoor Championships. Apparently, feeling a lack of progress, the athlete decided to switch to American football. But that didn’t work out either. His contract was terminated twice after only a few weeks of signing. In one of the teams, Marvin sustained an injury in his very first game. In 2020, Bracy returned to track and field. Strangely enough, after his return, the runner’s career sharply took off. He set a new personal best, running 9.85 seconds at an American meet. This was followed by medals at the world forums in Belgrade and Eugene, which took place in 2022. It seemed that the American’s career would soar to the skies after such significant victories, bringing in cool sponsors and allowing him to save up for a comfortable old age. But in September 2023, the athlete unexpectedly stopped competing, having disappeared for several months. It turned out that Bracy had become part of a joint investigation by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), and the DEA district unit. USADA received information from an informant that Marvin was using an anabolic drug. This was confirmed by the samples taken from him. The athlete was provisionally suspended from February 5 for the duration of the investigation. The American tried to mislead the investigation to avoid punishment. During the investigation, the runner managed to receive a third “flag,” being away from his declared location for anti-doping services on June 4, 2024. Following the reviews, USADA issued a rather light sanction for three serious violations. The 31-year-old Bracy received only a 45-month disqualification, effective from February 5, 2024. The athlete will be able to return to the track in November 2028. At the same time, the agency is proud of its work. “This case also demonstrates the importance of collaboration between like-minded organizations and law enforcement agencies in combating organized doping crime. With the proper application of the regulations, we can bring the guilty parties to justice,” the official USADA portal quoted CEO Travis Tygart as saying.
