OpenAI unveiled the release of ChatGPT 5.2, where the model’s functioning for handling professional and technical assignments has been noticeably revamped. According to the corporation, the fresh iteration demonstrates nearly a twofold enhancement compared to 5.1 in several practical applications.
The 5.2 suite comprises three usage profiles: Instant for peak velocity, Thinking for multi-step and intricate problems, and Pro, designed for elevated accuracy. This strategy segregates the model’s operational modes contingent on the task’s nature, enabling a choice between speed and computational depth.
The code debugging system has been substantially upgraded. Developers observe that version 5.2 features enhanced stability when processing complex sequences of steps, and the error rate in the reasoning mode has been lowered—the figure decreased by 38% against the prior version. The model also excels more in mathematical and scientific challenges and processes tables with greater precision, which is crucial for data analysis and working with digital documents.
Image handling has been improved in version 5.2, broadening the scope of tasks tied to visual assessment. Furthermore, the model’s knowledge base has been updated: it now utilizes data extending up to August 31, 2025. However, the knowledge expansion may not stem from a complete retraining procedure, as earlier versions, like GPT-4o, were also capable of receiving updates without restarting the training cycle (further fine-tuning).
