
Magnus Carlsen, representing Norway, secured the victory at the World Rapid Chess Championship, which concluded in Qatar’s capital, Doha. After all twelve rounds were finished, the champion tallied a total score of 10.5 points.
The silver medal was claimed by Russian grandmaster Vladislav Artemiev, who accumulated 9.5 points. His advantage over Indian player Arjun Erigaisi, who also earned the same number of points, was determined by tie-breakers. Third place went to Erigaisi, while Americans Hans Niemann and Leinier Dominguez Perez had to settle for fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
Thus, the 35-year-old Norwegian Magnus Carlsen reaffirmed his status as the planet’s strongest player in rapid chess, becoming the world champion titleholder for the sixth consecutive time.
