In the city of Gelsenkirchen in Germany, criminals infiltrated the vault of the Sparkasse bank. They made a huge hole in the office wall, leading directly to the safes. RIA Novosti reports this.
According to preliminary data from the Bild publication, the total damage amount could reach 33.9 million euros. The strongroom contained about 3.3 thousand lockers used by 2.7 thousand clients. The perpetrators opened almost all the boxes, taking money and valuables. The situation is complicated by the fact that each compartment was insured for only about 10.3 thousand euros, which may not cover the actual losses of the account holders.
More than 200 angry customers have already gathered at the bank branch. People are demanding answers and reimbursements, but the Sparkasse management is currently avoiding contact with the affected parties. The situation has escalated to the point that the police were forced to set up cordons to prevent an assault on the lobby of the closed bank.
