Washington Capitals General Manager Chris Patrick commented on Alexander Ovechkin’s prospects of leaving the team this summer.
“Pinpointing a precise percentage is tricky, but I believe it’s certainly a realistic scenario. He intends to discuss the matter with his family, close contacts, Ted Leonsis, MacLellan, and myself. He won’t rush the decision and will take his time. This could materialize toward the close of the season or during the offseason. He will handle the process entirely on his own schedule, and naturally, we will respect his approach,” Daily Faceoff quoted him as saying.
It should be recalled that Ovechkin holds the record for the most goals scored in NHL regular season history.
With the Capitals organization, Alexander secured the Stanley Cup. Furthermore, representing the Russian national team, he claimed the World Championship title on three separate occasions.
Ovechkin’s current agreement with the Capitals extends through the conclusion of this present season.
