A female passenger aboard a British Airways long-haul flight from Hong Kong to London passed away within the initial hour of the journey. Despite this, the flight crew opted to proceed with the remainder of the flight, which lasted over 13 hours. The deceased individual was covered with a blanket by the crew and subsequently moved to the rear section of the aircraft.
According to reports from The Sun, eventually both passengers and cabin crew started noticing an unpleasant odor. This was attributed to the temperature rising in the tail section of the plane.
Furthermore, upon landing, passengers were kept on board for an additional 45 minutes while law enforcement conducted the necessary investigation.
The report does specify that a passenger’s death does not automatically necessitate an emergency landing.
The article states, “A source highly commended the crew’s handling of the situation. They noted that there is no single standardized protocol for addressing a mid-flight passenger fatality and added that the airline has not received any formal complaints.”
