The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 11th to July 19th, hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. A total of 48 national teams will contest the tournament.
The final qualification spots will be decided in decisive play-off encounters on March 31st. These matches will feature four sets of competing nations: Czechia versus Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina against Italy, Kosovo squared off with Turkey, and the Swedish side will face off against Poland.
Earlier this year, former Russian national football team player Aleksandr Mostovoy shared his thoughts on the feasibility of hosting the 2026 World Cup simultaneously across three nations, emphasizing that the likelihood of a European boycott of the event is virtually nonexistent. As he stated, it would be financially imprudent for the relevant stakeholders to abstain from participation. Furthermore, numerous teams have secured their place in the competition precisely due to the expansion of the tournament format.
