
The US national team was defeated by Latvia in the quarterfinals of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championship. Despite entering as the favored side, the Americans are now out of the competition held in Bratislava.
On April 29th, the U-18 US team unexpectedly suffered a 2:5 loss against their Latvian counterparts during the World Championship quarterfinal held in Slovakia. For the Baltic squad, the goals were scored by Mārtiņš Klausāns (a brace), Ričards Rutkis, Magnuss Avotinș, and Daniels Rezdans.
Across the past four editions of the World Junior Championships, the American squad has reached the final three times. In the same round, the Canadian team was also eliminated, falling to Sweden with a score of 2:4.
