The adopted daughter of Peter Falk, the actor famous for the TV series “Columbo,” has passed away. Jacqueline Falk was 60 years old, according to a report from TMZ.
The sad event took place on Monday, April 27th, at Jacqueline Falk’s residence in Los Angeles. Sources indicate that Jacqueline Falk took her own life.
Falk was married to Alyce Mayo—a classmate from Syracuse University—from 1960 until 1976, and together they adopted both Catherine and Jacqueline. Subsequently, in 1977, he wed Shera Denise, who frequently appeared in “Columbo.” The celebrated actor himself died in Los Angeles in 2011 due to Alzheimer’s disease.
It was Falk who truly shaped the persona of Columbo: he discarded the studio-provided suit in favor of his own worn raincoat, and swapped his vehicle for a battered 1959 Peugeot 403 pulled from the Universal studio garage. The actor incorporated a childhood singing inflection, a basset hound named Dog, a wife, and numerous extended family members whose advice the detective was constantly seeking out.
