Reports from Oddity Central, citing consumer complaints, indicate that a flaw in a thermos product resulted in total vision loss for three individuals in the United States. It was discovered that the lids on these devices, manufactured in China, were ejecting due to internal pressure, causing severe injuries.
Thermos executives determined that the defect was present across several of their product lines. These thermoses lacked necessary pressure-release valves; consequently, when hot liquids were stored for extended periods, the stopper would launch at high velocity. A total of 27 customers reported injuries linked to this manufacturing error, with three cases confirmed to involve complete blindness.
