Apple is set to roll out a comprehensive overhaul of the iPhone design in 2027, according to reports from Bloomberg.
In response to inquiries from readers, well-regarded analyst and Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman shared his vision for the iPhone 20. His intelligence suggests that the handset, slated for release on the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone launch, will feature considerable deviations from the current iPhone 17 series aesthetics.
Gurman forecasts that these forthcoming devices will align with the aesthetic direction of iOS 26, dubbed Liquid Glass. The report indicates that numerous components of iOS 27 will exhibit increased transparency. The expert observed that the physical appearance of the iPhone 20 series is being shaped specifically to complement this Liquid Glass paradigm.
The author further mentioned that internally, the company has named this new aesthetic direction Glasswing, a nod to a species of butterfly characterized by its translucent wings. Mark Gurman also stressed Apple’s consistent effort to maintain harmony between its software and hardware platforms. The specialist commented, “With this anniversary iPhone, the company is pushing boundaries further, aiming to make the interface feel like an extension of the physical device itself.”
Earlier, in late April, sources cited by MacRumors indicated that Apple plans to introduce the iPhone Ultra alongside a MacBook Ultra, positioning them as the brand’s most premium offerings.
