According to the source, Mehdi Taj, the head of the Iranian Football Federation, has voiced significant concern regarding the national team’s potential participation in the 2026 World Cup. To date, not a single player has secured the necessary visas for entry into the United States for the tournament. This issue is compounded by the existing geopolitical tensions and the lack of formal diplomatic ties between Iran and the USA.
It was previously revealed that a farewell ceremony for the national team took place in Tehran ahead of the World Cup.
Iran’s team is scheduled to play its group stage matches for the 2026 World Cup in the United States. Their group opponents are anticipated to be New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt.
