In Sasaram, a city in India’s Bihar state, a 25-year-old man, following an altercation with his wife, proceeded to a Shiva temple, amputated his own genitals, and attempted to offer them at the altar. This event was reported by Republic World.

The couple had been experiencing disputes for several days, purportedly over domestic matters and family issues. Consequently, the man went alone to a nearby Shiva temple and, in a state of emotional distress, severed his genitalia as an offering.
Residents of Kusdihra village discovered him lying in a pool of blood and alerted his family. His relatives then transported the injured man to the nearest medical facility. However, the injuries were so severe that medical professionals transferred him to a hospital in Varanasi. Doctors assessed his condition as critical.
“Civil surgeon Dr. Maniraj Ranjan stated that the injuries indicate a complete detachment of the penis and suggest significant psychological disturbances,” the report reads.
A formal complaint has not yet been filed with the police. Authorities have not announced the commencement of any criminal investigation into the incident.
