The British Museum in London underwent a temporary evacuation after a suspicious item was discovered in one of the public restrooms. As reported by The Times, between 12,000 and 16,000 individuals were safely removed from the premises as a precautionary measure.
Emergency services and law enforcement responded to the scene. There have been no reports of any injuries.
Authorities later confirmed that the object found did not pose an actual danger. Nevertheless, the museum simultaneously received direct threats, which have been passed on to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
Following the completion of the examination, the situation was brought under control. Investigations are currently underway to determine the motives behind the threats and any potential connection they may have to the initial incident.
