A 39-year-old tourist in China has been rescued after surviving for seven days and six nights in the open sea following an accidental fall into the water. The remarkable incident was reported by television channel HNTV.
According to available information, the man, identified by the surname Qin, had traveled to Hainan Island for a vacation. On the evening of May 27th, near the coast of Haikou city, he was swept into the sea. Unable to reach the shore on his own, he was left at the mercy of the currents.
Throughout this period, the Chinese national remained in the water without a life jacket or any food supplies. To combat starvation, he caught and consumed small crabs raw. Prolonged exposure to the scorching sun resulted in severe sunburns, while extreme exhaustion led to hallucinations.
The tourist himself described the fourth and fifth days of drifting as the most challenging. At one point, he spotted a passing ferry and attempted to signal its crew, but his efforts to attract their attention went unnoticed.
Rescue finally arrived after a week. Near the town of Qiaotou in Chengmai County, two fishermen found the man, brought him aboard their vessel, and transported him to land.
Qin is currently under medical observation. Despite significant dehydration, the effects of prolonged starvation, and sunburns, he managed to survive nearly a week adrift at sea and is now sharing details of his ordeal with journalists.
