According to The Northern Echo, 106-year-old Briton Noreen Murphy has revealed her secret to a long life. Originally from Ireland and having worked as a maid for the Dukes of Westminster until the age of 70, she confessed that she owes her longevity to her fondness for gin and tonic and champagne.
At a care home in Consett, a celebration with guests and refreshments was held for the birthday woman. The biggest surprise of the day was a personal congratulatory message from Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell.
Murphy herself received 550 cards, including a letter from King Charles III. She also shared that all the dukes she had the pleasure of working for were very kind individuals.
