The victor of the sixth round of the Formula 1 World Championship, the Monaco Grand Prix, was Kimi Antonelli, an Italian driver for the Mercedes team.
Earning the runner-up position was Lewis Hamilton, a British driver representing Ferrari. The third spot was claimed by Isaac Hadjar, a French competitor from the Red Bull squad.
Max Verstappen, a four-time Formula 1 champion from the Netherlands driving for Red Bull, was forced to retire from the race after his car stalled on the starting grid. Charles Leclerc of Monaco, piloting a Ferrari, collided with a barrier and, due to the accident, his race concluded shortly after he inked a new agreement with the team. The incident on the track prompted the deployment of red flags and a suspension of the race. Lando Norris, a British driver for McLaren who is currently sixth in the overall standings, was also unable to finish the race.
At 19 years old, Antonelli has become the youngest driver ever to achieve a “Grand Slam” in Formula 1. During the Monaco Grand Prix, the Italian secured victory in the race, achieved pole position in qualifying, maintained the lead throughout the entire race, and set the fastest lap.
Antonelli now tops the championship standings with a total of 156 points. Moving into second place is seven-time world champion Hamilton with 90 points, surpassing his compatriot George Russell from Mercedes, who has 88 points. In the Constructors’ Championship, Mercedes holds the lead with 244 points, followed by Ferrari in second with 165 points, and McLaren in third with 118 points.
The seventh event of the Grand Prix series is scheduled to take place from June 12th to 14th in Barcelona.
