
US President Donald Trump took to social media to comment on the “three-colored” team’s victory over Paraguay in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup, Group D.
The game, held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, concluded with a 4:1 scoreline. For the US squad, Folarin Balogun netted two goals, while Giovanni Reyna added another. Paraguay’s own Damian Bobadilla scored an own goal, and Mauricio managed to score their sole goal of the match.
“Congratulations to the US team on a dominant 4:1 victory against a very strong Paraguay side. Keep it up!” Trump wrote.
Australia and Turkey are also competing in Group D. These two teams will face each other for the first time in their opening fixture on June 14th at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 AM Moscow time.
