Taiwan aims to assist Paraguay in establishing a data center valued at approximately $200 million. This initiative is intended to bolster bilateral cooperation and represent a significant technological investment by Taipei in South America.
The facility is slated for operational readiness by the end of 2027, offering a computing capacity of 10 MW. Taiwan has committed to supplying Nvidia chips and other necessary hardware, while Paraguay will contribute land near Asunción, access to affordable hydroelectric power, and foundational infrastructure.
The Taiwan Fund for International Development is exploring the potential involvement of companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Amazon in this project. Discussions are also underway with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation regarding financial backing.
Paraguayan authorities intend to form a joint venture with Taiwan, named Yguazu Digital, to manage the data center and spearhead future expansions with the participation of private investors.
