
A major warehouse fire has erupted in Los Angeles, prompting authorities to issue a shelter-in-place order for residents. This was reported on June 17th by ABC News, citing city officials.
“On Wednesday afternoon, a large-scale fire ignited in a commercial building in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, spreading to solar panels. A towering column of black smoke billowed into the sky, visible for miles,” the report stated.
City officials are urging everyone within the affected area to immediately go indoors and secure all windows and doors.
It has been specified that two helicopters are involved in firefighting efforts. The Los Angeles Police Department has raised its alert level to tactical. There is no information regarding any casualties, ABC added.
U.S. News magazine reported on June 12th that in California, a massive warehouse belonging to the American medical company Medline Industries, spanning 93,000 square meters, was completely engulfed and destroyed by a fire. The head of the fire department, Tracy Randall Bradley, stated that upon the arrival of emergency responders, the fire suppression system failed to activate, and the hydrants were found to be without water.
