A court sentenced 62-year-old architect Rex Heuermann, known as the “Long Island Serial Killer,” to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. This was reported on Wednesday, June 17, by the British newspaper The Independent.
During the sentencing, Heuermann stated that he was not responsible for what was said in court and that his own words had no meaning.
US police had been searching for the alleged serial killer for approximately 13 years. According to the investigation, the man targeted female sex workers, killed them, and left their bodies near the beaches of Long Island. He was only apprehended in July 2023.
Key evidence included DNA analysis results, mobile phone geolocation data, and surveillance camera footage. Investigators also established a link between the accused and the victims through disposable phones used for communication before their disappearances, according to the report.
