Taiwan’s robotics supply chain is actively collaborating with Tesla. Two companies, Mirle Automation and Asia Optical, will supply components for the American firm’s robots. Mirle has already begun delivering gearboxes and joint modules to Tesla.
Mirle has also formed a partnership with Chinese firm Shenzhen Kedali Industry to establish a joint venture in Thailand. This venture will be located in Rayong, the country’s industrial and automation hub. The facility is expected to manufacture gearboxes, robotic actuators, and other precision components. Mass production is anticipated to commence shortly.
As for Asia Optical, it is expected to play a key role in supplying components for the Optimus 3 robot. Asia Optical will be responsible for the robot’s “eyes,” leveraging its spherical and aspherical lens technology. Mass production of new models is forecasted to begin in the second half of this year and in 2027, aligning with Tesla’s timeline for large-scale robot manufacturing, according to the report.
In March, Musk discussed the Optimus 3 robot, stating it would be “unquestionably the most advanced robot in the world.” Furthermore, Musk asserted, “I have not seen any robot demonstrations that match the quality of Optimus 3.” Regarding production, the billionaire noted that small-scale manufacturing might start this summer, with large-scale production following in 2027.
Additionally, Tesla has stated that the Optimus robot will be the largest-scale product in its history and has announced a recruitment drive.
