Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has vacated his world champion titles in the heavyweight division, held by the World Boxing Council (WBC), the International Boxing Federation (IBF), and the World Boxing Association (WBA Super).
“I am leaving the championship belts vacant so that the fighters waiting in the rankings can compete for them. I am giving up the belts, but I am not retiring from the sport, because I still have my ‘last dance’ ahead. I want to thank everyone, and I have great respect for all the organizations,” Usyk said in a video posted on his social media.
The 39-year-old Usyk boasts 25 wins (16 by knockout) in 25 professional bouts.
