In the Czech Republic, an escaped inmate voluntarily surrendered to the police and asked to be taken back to a cool prison cell. This was reported by Life.ru, citing the Telegram channel SHOT.
The incident took place in the Czech city of Ústí nad Labem. A man approached a police officer and stated that he had escaped from a prison in Germany and wanted to turn himself in voluntarily. At first, the officer thought it was a joke, but then called for backup.
During the check, it was confirmed that the man had indeed fled from a German prison. The fugitive was detained and taken to the station. Czech police speculated that the decision might have been influenced by the oppressive heatwave—just days earlier, the temperature in the Czech Republic had reached a record high of +41°C. Such extreme heat had not been seen in the country for nearly 300 years.
