Croatian midfielder Ivan Perišić opened the scoring in the 53rd minute. Portugal equalized in the 68th minute thanks to a precise penalty kick converted by Cristiano Ronaldo. The winning goal was scored by Gonçalo Ramos in the fourth minute of stoppage time in the second half (90+4′).
In the Round of 16 of the world championship, Portugal’s squad will face Spain. The Spanish footballers crushed Austria 3-0 in their Round of 32 fixture. The match between Portugal and Spain will take place on Monday, July 6th, in Arlington.
England’s national football team secured a comeback victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in a Round of 32 match at the 2026 World Cup. The game took place on July 1st and ended 2-1 in favor of the English. For the first time in 60 years, England won a match in which they conceded the opening goal.
