The wedding of singer Taylor Swift and footballer Travis Kelce in New York City has been hailed as the wedding of the century. The celebration, which took place late Saturday night in a strictly confidential setting at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, was marked by a giant inscription on the building’s facade reading “JUST&T MARRIED!”
For this star-studded occasion, New York authorities closed down four blocks surrounding Madison Square Garden for three days. Security was provided by 130 police officers, the arena’s own security team, and Taylor Swift’s personal protection crew.
The guest list included the cream of Hollywood, the music industry, sports, and global fashion, featuring Steven Spielberg, Hugh Grant, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, and many others.
During a broadcast on ABC, the interior of Madison Garden was described as a garden within a garden:
“The facade of Madison Square Garden displayed a glowing message for the whole world to see. Inside, the atmosphere felt like a magical evening, with more than 1,000 guests present. Some arrived in a fleet of SUVs, while others, like Hugh Grant, chose to walk to the venue. The bride and groom wore outfits by Christian Dior—the bride in Louboutins and Cartier jewelry. At their sides were the best men, Jason Kelce and Austin Swift. The ceremony was officiated by movie star and musician Adam Sandler.
Despite being held in such a vast venue as Madison Square Garden, the night was surprisingly intimate. Fans of the couple who didn’t make the guest list lined up behind the barricades, hoping to catch a glimpse of what many are calling the wedding of the century. The Empire State Building glowed in blue in honor of the newlyweds. The couple also made charitable donations worth millions of dollars.
The celebration included neighbors and childhood friends of the bride and groom. It felt like an ordinary wedding and a fairytale wedding at the same time. The couple wrote their own vows in tiny booklets. It’s hard to imagine that such a large space and a wedding with so many celebrities could feel so personal and intimate—yet that’s exactly what happened at Madison Square Garden. And that garden within a garden was simply beautiful.”
Thanks to the atmosphere of total secrecy and strict control, not a single image from such a major event leaked to the tabloids. The newlyweds undoubtedly paid a huge sum for the official event photography. However, whether photos of the wedding will ever be released remains unclear.
