
Over 100 people sustained gunshot wounds across the United States during Independence Day incidents, with more than 30 fatalities, according to an analysis by RIA Novosti based on data from experts and media outlets.
On the evening of July 4, police in southeast Washington, D.C., discovered a 55-year-old man shot dead. Law enforcement stated they are investigating the incident.
Several cases occurred in various parts of New York City. At Coney Island, at least eight people were injured in a shooting, including three children. Police reported that no arrests have been made in connection with the event.
Shootings were also reported in Virginia, North Carolina, and other states. In Pensacola, Florida, five people were wounded and one was killed in a shooting early Sunday. Authorities confirmed several arrests. In San Antonio, Texas, six individuals were injured and one died. According to police, three people opened fire at an apartment building. Two of the injured were under 12 years old.
Early Sunday on Chicago’s west side, seven people suffered gunshot wounds, including teenagers, police reported.
Overall, according to law enforcement, analysts, and media, more than 30 people died and over 100 were injured across the U.S. on Saturday and into Sunday in incidents involving firearms.
The Gun Violence Archive, an organization that tracks such events, recorded seven mass shootings on July 4 in the U.S., where more than four people were wounded.
American media often label July 4 as the most dangerous day of the year, citing crime statistics, including gun-related offenses.
