ZTE has begun promoting its upcoming flagship model, the Nubia Navi X Ultra, boldly calling it “the world’s first smartphone with artificial intelligence.” Its official launch is scheduled for the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2026) in Shanghai, taking place from July 17 to 20.
The Nubia Navi X Ultra has already been fully revealed, and it will be available in four color options: black, light pink, silver, and blue. The Nubia logo is placed right in the center. A horizontal camera module houses a total of three lenses.
Nubia’s president, Ni Fei, has apologized for the delay in releasing the smartphone, which will be equipped with ByteDance’s mobile assistant, Doubao, delivering what he describes as a true “agent-based” experience.
The AI will not merely respond to questions or generate text on your behalf; it is designed to understand natural language and independently handle multi-step tasks across various applications. This involves a system-level intelligence capable of performing real actions on the device, which appears to be a significant advancement compared to the typical AI features we have seen so far.
Nubia is positioning this smartphone as a full-fledged flagship intended for mass production, rather than just a concept device.
Recently, the Chinese AI company StepFun, founded by former Microsoft employees in 2023, introduced the StepX Neo, claiming it to be the world’s first mass-market smartphone with a built-in AI agent that autonomously completes multi-step tasks from start to finish.
