In the U.S. state of Alabama, a bizarre incident occurred that will be long remembered by locals and customers of an antique shop. In the city of Dothan, an unusual visitor—a wild deer—decided to shake up the quiet routine of a shopping street by crashing through the window of an antique store.
According to a report from the UPI news agency, the event took place in broad daylight when shoppers and staff least expected a horned intruder to appear. The animal burst inside with such force that it shattered the glass display and collapsed onto a counter where fragile vintage items were on show.
The shop owner, Mary Kay Floyd, who witnessed the chaos, later recounted that the damage extended not only to the storefront but also to the antique merchandise itself—many historically valuable pieces were trampled under the hooves of the hapless guest. Fortunately, despite the commotion and destruction, no one inside the store was injured. Employees managed to keep their composure and open a door, through which the deer, apparently spooked by its own boldness, fled in an unknown direction, leaving behind only broken glass and overturned shelves.
What’s most remarkable is that, after the shock, the store didn’t close for repairs but kept operating. However, management had to temporarily redirect customers away from the shattered main entrance, using alternate exits. In spite of the financial losses and the urgent need to clean up after the “attack,” both locals and the owners themselves took the situation in stride with humor. This episode became the main topic of conversation in town, sparking smiles and jokes about how antique fashion has now reached the animal kingdom—and that the deer apparently had its own take on vintage style.
