On August 3–4, 2026, Volcán de Fuego in Guatemala has become increasingly active. The volcano, one of Central America’s most active, entered a more explosive phase. Authorities declared an orange alert and ordered mass evacuations: about 1,700 people were moved to shelters. The eruption sent plumes of ash several kilometers into the air, and pyroclastic flows descended down the slopes. Additionally, mudflows up to 7 kilometers long occurred, with the risk increasing due to expected rainfall. Schools in nearby towns were closed, and a major highway near the volcano was shut down
