An unusual incident occurred in the Italian city of Bologna. Two local women discovered €86,000 in cash inside a piece of furniture that had been discarded on the street. This was reported by the Corriere di Bologna newspaper, citing documents from city authorities. The story began on April 1, 2025, when one of the women contacted the municipal lost-and-found office and handed the money over to the authorities. In accordance with established procedure, the entire sum was held by the municipality pending an investigation into the circumstances. Details regarding the discovery were published on the city administration’s official website. Three parties laid claim to the money: the two women who found it and an heir to the furniture’s former owner who had come forward. After the holding period expired on July 30, 2026, all three parties reached an agreement on how to divide the funds. As a result of the settlement, one of the finders received €33,000, while the remaining amount was distributed between the second woman and the legal heir of the furniture’s former owner.
