Former Cambridge professor Jason Arday has been found dead at his home in south London. He had previously resigned amid allegations of plagiarism. The Guardian reported the news, citing the London police.
The circumstances of his death have not been disclosed, though police do not treat the incident as suspicious.
“Jason had been subjected to a campaign of persistent abuse for over three years—since taking up his professorship at the University of Cambridge—by those who spared no effort to undermine his credibility,” the statement read.
Arday had previously found himself at the center of a scandal after The Daily Telegraph discovered more than 100 instances of material borrowed from a Brunel University student’s work—published six years earlier—in his own doctoral thesis. Despite denying the allegations, the academic faced a wave of criticism on social media. Ultimately, Arday decided to resign.
