The 2026 European Championships in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics began in Zagreb, Croatia, on August 19. The competition runs from August 19 to 23. The format is unusual: the champion in individual all-around is determined directly by the qualification results, rather than a separate final. The same qualification round also decides participants for the apparatus finals and the team final. Several high-profile gymnasts are in action, including Ireland’s Rhys McClenaghan (reigning Olympic and world champion on pommel horse, returning after a long injury layoff), Greece’s Eleftherios Petrounias (aiming for an 11th continental medal on still rings), and Great Britain’s Harry Hepworth (Olympic bronze medallist from Paris 2024). The event also serves as a continental qualification for the 2026 World Championships in Rotterdam.
