Microsoft has officially closed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. The deal, which took nearly two years to finalize due to extensive regulatory scrutiny, has been completed. As part of the transaction, Microsoft gained control over key franchises including Call of Duty, Diablo, Overwatch, Warcraft, and Starcraft, as well as several internal development studios. To address antitrust concerns, Microsoft made significant concessions, such as securing long-term agreements to keep Call of Duty available on competing platforms like PlayStation and Nintendo for extended periods. The integration of Activision Blizzard into Microsoft Gaming is expected to accelerate the company’s efforts in cloud gaming and AI-driven game development.
