The UK and Ukraine have signed an agreement that will give British researchers and tech companies access to a vast database of real-world battlefield data. The data comes from Ukraine’s Avengers AI Labs, which has been collecting information using thousands of daylight cameras and infrared sensors across the conflict zone. The database contains records of millions of objects — tanks, artillery, air defence systems, troops, drones, and more. The goal is to use this «goldmine» of operational data to train and test new AI models for defence and national security applications. Pilot projects are already underway, including transforming buried fibre-optic cables into AI-enabled sensors to detect activity near sensitive sites, and developing low-power AI chips for drones and autonomous systems.
