Thierry Henry, a 1998 World Cup winner with the French national team, has received the UEFA President’s Award.
The award ceremony took place in Monaco during the draw for the Champions League main stage. UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin presented the trophy to the former Arsenal striker.
Henry is 49 years old. As a player, he represented Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal, Barcelona, and the New York Red Bulls. The Frenchman is Arsenal’s all-time leading goalscorer and won the English league title twice with the club. With Barcelona, Henry won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. With the French national team, he won the 1998 World Cup, the 2000 European Championship, and the 2003 Confederations Cup.
Also during the ceremony, Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos became the first recipient of the new UEFA “Respect: Beyond the Game” award. The Brazilian was recognized for his actions following the 2025/26 Champions League final; after his team’s victory, he went to console his compatriot Gabriel Magalhães—an Arsenal player—who had missed the decisive penalty in the shootout.
