Donald Trump proposed renaming the Strait of Hormuz to the “Trump Strait” just days after signing an executive order to rename Lake Ontario—located on the Canadian border—to “Lake America.” “Now that we control it, should we rename the Strait of Hormuz the Trump Strait?” the US President asked rhetorically on his Truth Social platform.
This strategic waterway has been blocked by Tehran since the war began on February 28, following Israeli-American strikes on Iran. Trump had previously renamed the Gulf of Mexico.
