The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its state-of-the-art Earth observation satellite, EOS-05, on September 4th. The GSLV-F17 rocket lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 2:55 AM IST. This marks a significant milestone: EOS-05 is the first Indian satellite of its kind to be placed into a geosynchronous orbit. The mission follows a previous failed attempt this year (PSLV-C62), so this successful launch is particularly noteworthy for ISRO. The satellite will enhance India’s capabilities in monitoring climate change, managing natural resources, and supporting disaster response efforts.
